When we decided to do our extensive renovation, basically ripping out two floors of our 24 year old house, we were very excited but nervous about the prospect of such a large undertaking. We had decided to live in the basement while this was being done – two adults, two teenagers and our little canine buddy bandit.
Once we settled in on what was going to be done (some of which I was not sure could be tackled by the way), Greg provided us with monthly schedules, he was constantly there, he grabbed a broom when there was mess – which wasn’t often. He was very much on top of the day to day events of this reno – which is exactly what you want.
Greg has good people working with him and for him. He sets realistic schedules. He addresses issues head on and is very good at resolving the inevitable problems that arise in this or any home renovation project.
Ultimately Greg met our schedule, he provided us with a great project and we love our house.

In January of 2013, First Class Renovations began a complete renovation of our entire house. The planned project was to gut our existing kitchen and bathroom on the main floor, remove a wall between a living room and bedroom, to re-finish all the existing hardwood floors. And also to completely gut the basement down to the foundation, create a new floor plan and re-build into a large family room, bathroom, bedroom and office space. The proposed timeline was 2 1/2 months.
My husband and I were very nervous about beginning such a large renovation, especially with all the horror stories you hear about contractors and tradesmen. But from the onset of the project, Greg and his team were a pleasure to work with. The work began right on time and that schedule was maintained throughout the entire renovation. Any problems that arose during the process were dealt with quickly and completely to our satisfaction. Greg was easy to get a hold of, either answering calls directly or returning messages asap.
We were also very impressed with the quality of the work. From the cleanliness of our house during the reno, to the finishing touches when it was all said and done, each trades person put care into their work. The carpenter, Brian, did a excellent job building custom closets for us in the master bedroom. Our friends and family have been completely shocked when they’ve seen our transformed house and consistently comment on how amazing it looks.
In the end, our renovation was completed exactly on time, and on budget! We’re looking forward to working with First Class Renovations again in the future, but we’d have to move to do that, and our house is now so perfect, we never want to leave!
I would to thank Greg and his team at First Class Renovations for the recent basement renovation at our home in Calgary.
We purchased a relatively new home South Calgary that the previous owner had tried his hand at DIY in the basement by partially framing and installing wall board and doors. Sadly, none of it was to code and it all had to go. We firmed up a new layout with Greg and he quoted the project for our new basement, including a bedroom, a full bathroom, family room, furnace room and lots of storage. Once we confirmed the plan, Greg sent us to a designer to select counter tops, fixtures, paint, flooring, tile and all the other details that are required.
From the beginning, Greg communicated regular progress reports and supplied us with updated weekly schedules and a target completion date. Throughout the project, there were minor changes to the schedule, yet the original completion date never changed. Greg’s team of tradesmen were all top notch.
Work moved forward in a timely and professional manner and the work area was cleaned up each night. All necessary permits were obtained and inspections completed without issues. Greg’s team of tradesmen were all top notch. The dumpster that was placed in the driveway on day one to handle all to the construction debris was removed on the final day.
I have been involved in a number of renovations over the years and this project was by far the smoothest project I have experienced. Greg and his tradesmen provided quality work, completed in a professional and timely manner at a fair price.

Each different stage of the process was completed on more or less on the exact day that your planning schedule stated it would be, all of the various trades were at all times professional and courteous and all work was completed to a very high standard with mess and disruption kept to a bare minimum.
We expected a high quality end result because your company had been highly recommend to us by a friend but you surpassed our expectations.

We just wanted to let you know how happy we are with the work done on our kitchen and basement. The kitchen we have is now both beautiful and functional and a far cry from what we started with. Tam did a great job with the stone backsplash, and the transitions from the tile floor to the hardwood is amazing. The finished basement feels like an extension of the rest of the house which is due in large part to Brian’s custom finishings and cabinetry work.

When you invite someone to spend time in your home while you are living in it, you trust they will respect and appreciate it as you and your family do. When you have several dozen people coming and going for five to six weeks, between 7 am and 7 pm, six days a week, hauling all kinds of things in and out, it becomes a challenge. Greg and his whole crew from First Class Renovations were our constant companions for almost six weeks. They guided us through the remodelling of our kitchen, guest bathroom and master bathroom; removed fireplaces, added more cabinets to enlarge the island; replaced floor tiles, backsplashes and countertops; repaired drywall, added a wall and door; rewired for new appliances and lights, and replaced old faucets. The crew were prompt, efficient, and clean. Greg scheduled each trade so there was no delay in accomplishing their part of the reno and the entire project was finished within the estimated timeline and budget despite our adding a few ‘little’ extras! There was never a problem that couldn’t be solved to our complete satisfaction. We sincerely recommend Greg and First Class Renovations to do your home improvements.

Greg at first class renovations inc helped us completely update our kitchen and main living space. We had a wall removed and created an open concept space that we are in love with! The project was quick, on time and on budget! Throughout the project Greg dealt with all my questions and concerns as they came up promptly and was able to provide a solution. The only thing to note is they do not work with a designer so it helps to have a good idea of what you want your final space to look like and pay attention to the small details. This was not an issue for us as I had a very clear picture of what I wanted but I felt this meant I had to be more on top of some of the small details that I think can really enhance a space to ensure they were included.
